I spy

Illustrations

In the song, I Spy by the British band Pulp, a man watches a typical middle-class bourgeois family and conspires against it planning its destruction.

This family scene represents a specific social environment that the song criticizes.

The basis of the drawings was taken from the book Architects‘ Data (Bauentwurfslehre) Ernst Neufert, which contains an extremely detailed compendium of architectural measurements.

I chose the objects that I associate with the named social environment.

Drawn by hand with fine liner on tracing paper, using overlay and collage, these standard images come to life and reflect chaos in a supposed orderly world.
